A series of free forest therapy walks in Oct & Nov are being offered ahead of ohmori's launch. come join an upcoming walk.
What is a forest therapy walk? A forest therapy walk is a guided experience inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku (森林浴 or forest bathing). Through gentle invitations, you'll be supported to slow down, engage your senses, and connect with nature.
Is there any religious association with this practice? No, forest therapy is a secular, evidence based practice. While it draws inspiration from the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku (森林浴 or forest bathing), it is not linked to any religion. People from all backgrounds are welcome.
Why do I need to be guided? A guide helps create a safe and supportive structure so you can fully relax into the experience. The guide offers invitations, manages timing, and holds space for the group. The forest is the therapist; the guide opens the door.
What are the benefits of forest therapy? Many participants leave a walk feeling calmer, more balanced and more connected to themselves and nature. Forest therapy has been shown to reduce stress, support relaxation, improve mood and enhance overall well-being.
Is forest therapy research backed? Yes, studies in Japan and internationally have found that intentional time in nature can lower stress hormones, reduce blood pressure and support immune function. Research also shows benefits for mental clarity, mood and emotional balance.
Do I need to prepare or bring anything? No special preparation is needed. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes suitable for walking outdoors, and bring water. A hat and insect repellent may be useful.
How is this different from a hike or walk in the park? The focus is not on exercise or reaching a destination. The pace is slow with frequent pauses, creating opportunities to notice, reflect and experience nature with all your senses.
What if I have mobility or health considerations? Please let us know in advance. Walks can be adjusted so everyone can participate comfortably, and your needs will always be respected.
Can I take photos and videos? Yes, though we encourage you to first experience the walk through your senses. If you do take photos and videos, please be mindful of the group's shared experience and the privacy of other participants.
Will photos and videos be taken during the walk? Sometimes, photos and videos may be taken. These may be used on Ohmori's website, social media, or printed materials. Care will be taken to ensure participants are shown respectfully and positively. Your participation is completely optional. If you prefer not to be photographed or recorded, simply let us know during registration. For full details, please read the Model Release.
What happens if it rains? Walks usually continue in light rain, as weather can deepen the experience. In the case of heavy rain, lightning, haze, or unsafe conditions, you'll be notified of a reschedule at least two hours before the start time.
Can I cancel or reschedule my walk? If you need to cancel, please do so at least 72 hours before the walk so that someone else may take your place. For paid walks, you'll receive a full refund or a one-time transfer if you cancel early. Cancellations make less than 72 hours before the walk, or no-shows, will not be refunded or rescheduled. For full details, please read the Cancellation and Refund policy.
